Due to our location the only means of public transportation is by taxi. As a courtesy and if it’s convenient we could offer transportation from/to the Metro North stations Cold Spring and Beacon. What our guests have said about my home.

Beacon Hermitage was wonderful. Jim was a fantastic host – present, generous and helpful, and also quietly gave us privacy to enjoy his home and property. Highlights include delicious breakfast (pancakes, eggs and bacon on the first morning, a fantastic frittata on the second), easy access to Beacon and surrounding towns for hiking, falling asleep while reading on the hammock in the yard. We even got to meet Jim’s playful dogs, who were kept (along with Jim’s cats) in separate quarters and only came out when we told Jim we’d love to meet them. Jim was very thoughtful and considerate – asked us a few times how our stay was going, and if there was anything else he could do to help. All in all – a wonderful time!

We enjoyed our stay with Jim so much! He took good care of us and provided us with a wonderful breakfast each time based on what we said we could eat. The backyard is enchanting with a trail to a swimming hole not far away! My husband and I enjoyed our conversations with Jim very much. The location was perfect-halfway between Beacon and Coldspring-two charming towns to visit.

My boyfriend and I had never been to Beacon or Cold Spring NY and Jim was such a great host showing us around the house and surrounding area. The room (the Green Room) was nice, clean, with a comfortable bed and the house had it’s own unique charm, outdoor benches and a seasaw! Breakfast in the morning was the perfect amount to fuel us for a 5 hour hike starting at noon through Breakneck. We definitely hope to visit again, staying at Beacon Hermitage no doubt.

Jim was an incredible host. We came here for the weekend as an escape from New York City and were delighted to discover Beacon. It’s truly a lovely town! Jim was a great tour guide and was sure to show us around before we headed to dinner. We arrived before our check-in time at the Beacon Hermitage and dropped off our bags before going on a hike. It was about 5-6 hours (depending on how often you get distracted by the stunning views and babbling brooks). We started at a trail head about 1.5 miles south of the Beacon Hermitage and then followed the trail up a rock face and then deep into the woods before ending up right in the Beacon Hermitage’s backyard! Bring water, snacks, and a camera! Once we had checked in, we enjoyed the grounds (which are really beautiful) and explored the town. Breakfast the next morning was phenomenal: pancakes, bacon, eggs, fruit, tea and coffee! I highly recommend the Beacon Hermitage: it’s comfortable, a good value, and is hosted by a wonderful and engaging couple.

We arrived pretty exhausted from our hike and immediately got an extremely nice welcome! Jim showed us around their amazing place and gave us towels to cool off in the water coming from a cute little waterfall almost next to their house. Afterward we were able to enjoy a refreshing beer in their beautiful garden. He offered us a ride to beacon in the evening, showing us what all the places were and gave us a great recommendation to eat and have a good night afterwards. In the morning, we got served a fantastic breakfast with the specialty being pancakes with all sorts of amazing ingredients. The whole experience could not have been better!
