Set beside a steady stream with woodland all around, Jim and Joe’s place was the epitome of classic Scottish chic. The trains in the distance and the chickens letting you know they have laid their eggs all add to the wonderful country ambience you will feel whilst staying here. Whilst they went about their daily business I felt free to relax in my beautifully decorated room and watch Netflix which is just what I needed. Coffee and tea are downstairs all day and muffins for breakfast if you wish. Fancy an adventure out? I saw Beacon, Cold Spring, Boscobel House and went on a hike. I also joined in their weekly drawing class in the art barn. A beautiful area I cannot wait to return to: Rachel 7/2018

Could not have booked a better bnb than the Beacon Hermitage for my boyfriends birthday getaway with friends! Serene garden setting with backyard access to trails and the Naturals. Lots of places to sit/dine/relax outside and enjoy the amazing property. A short convenient drive or an $8 Uber to the Main St.-shops, restaurants etc. Choice location. The bnb itself had classic yet eccentric charm, comfy beds and all of the amenities that one would need. Jim and Joe were the most wonderful hosts, incomparable hospitality and extremely personable; a delight to chat with. Highly recommend, will book again! Kimberly 7/2018

Thank you Thank you Thank you Jim! We had a wonderful 2 and a half days which felt like a week vocation! Very close to station (we just used Uber) 2steps from different hike . We did 7 hours long hike:)) Nice walking in beacon and cold spring. Both super close. But! !!! Most of all is the house! And Jim and Joe! Wonderful people who really make you feel like home. Delicious muffins in the morning!!! All advices you need to walk around. EVERYTHING! Perfect getaway from the city!!!! We will definitely come back! Thank you!!!! Alexandra 6/2018

What a wonderful vacation. Jim was really lovely to chat with when we crossed paths and his home is really special, as the pictures show. I thought the description really described the set up well as did the video he sent upon us booking. The waterfall and swimming hole was amazing and was just warm enough on a mid May day to dip in quickly. The location right between Beacon and Cold Spring was a great location whether you have a car, are uber-ing or are up for a bit of walking and access to trails is superb. Highly recommend and would return, if only to get a drink with Jim and Joe. Jeyhoun 4/2018

We loved our stay at Beacon Hermitage! Jim is a truly exceptional host. He is a delightful person and went above and beyond to make sure we were comfortable, fed, and enjoying our trip. By the end I felt like I was staying with a good friend of the family (if I had a family friend who owned a charming B&B) The place itself is perfectly situated for exploring Beacon, Cold Spring, and beyond. We really enjoyed being able to just walk out the door for a gorgeous hike. It's a special place, would love to return! Mara 4/2018

Amazing couple, amazing hospitality. Jim and Joe are the kind of people that you can't help but become friends with. I originally booked the Hermitage for one night for a little getaway for my birthday, ended up staying one more night because I was so relaxed and felt at home. I felt like I had a great birthday, and they didn't even know it was my birthday! Shunan 4/2017

Jim was such a gracious host! Jim and Joe's home is a one-of-kind hermitage that reflects their warmth and charm. From the stunning artwork throughout the house to the farm-fresh eggs for breakfast (from their own coop!) it was a cozy and clean getaway that far exceeds any expectations. We'll be returning as soon as we're back in the area! Seamus 5/2017

We had such a nice stay at Beacon Hermitage. My friend and I were looking for a little escape from the city for the weekend and that's just what we got! Beacon Hermitage itself is such a unique place. The walls are adorned with an eclectic collection of art. The lounge/common area is comfortable and welcoming. Our room (The Blue Room) was beautifully furnished, and the bed was so comfy! The surrounding property also filled with cool outdoor sculptures and lots of seating (which would be absolutely amazing in the summer). Jim and Joe were such friendly hosts. Jim gave us tips on where to hike and what transportation to use. They also give you little menus to fill out the night before and then make you breakfast in the morning just to your liking. We had frittatas, pineapple, orange juice, and Scottish tea...everything was delicious! It's not too far from town, but it's necessary to take a taxi or drive in because the road up to the house is not conducive to walking (i.e. no sidewalks). So just be aware of that. Overall we had a lovely stay with Jim and Joe, and I hope to come to experience Beacon and Beacon Hermitage in the warmer months! Jasmin 02/2017

Jim was such a wonderful host! The house was cozy, warm, and even better than described. The location was perfect for a weekend getaway from the city. The bed was SO comfortable, my husband and I slept better than we do at most hotels! Jim was welcoming and even made us special hot chocolate one night as we were relaxing in the lounge. The breakfast was delicious each morning with freshly laid eggs and tasty treats. We would recommend Beacon Hermitage in a heartbeat and can't wait to come back again! Brent 9/2016
